About Happy Takeout

American Chinese food

Located at 3201 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817, Happy Takeout operates as a chinese restaurant serving Sacramento in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Sacramento; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (916) 231-9651. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, happytakeoutsac.com.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 699 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Sacramento is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Traffic in Sacramento peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is a "Take-out" only Chinese restaurant just so you know. The neighborhood is a rough/sketchy neighborhood of an older part in the City of Sacramento limits. I almost had 2 people crash into my car due to their reckless driving skills. The young woman who took my order was clearly picked to cater to the local clientele and was unfortunately not very friendly or helpful at all. The food was good (chow mein had a nice peppery taste to it) and the price was fairly reasonable with fair portions. Unfortunately, there was an eyelash or eyebrow hair in one of my orders. Definitely worth a try, but not on a long term basis.

Had to check out this spot based on other reviews and it held up to its reputation. Service was fast and precise! Dinner rush was a RUSH, order ahead because the revolving door of people coming is nonstop. Food was delicious and portions were worth the price. πŸ˜‹

I normally do not leave reviews, but this experience was serious enough that I felt I needed to. I ordered hot and sour soup through DoorDash and clearly wrote no pork in the special instructions. The receipt even said no pork, yet the soup still came with meat in it. I called the restaurant because we are allergic to pork and needed to confirm what was in the soup. After checking with the chef, they told me their standard hot and sour soup contains chicken. That should have been made clear, especially since I specifically requested no pork, but that was pork not chicken This is not just bad service β€” it is careless. Whether someone avoids pork for religious reasons, allergies, or personal choice, restaurants need to take those requests seriously. Very disappointing experience, and I would caution anyone who does not eat pork to be careful ordering here.

Absolutely perfect. Beyond delicious, incredible prices, top-tier staff. Arguably the best lunch special around town.

I absolutely love this place. Their food hits the spot. I've had their chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, egg rolls, and cheese wontons. I truly appreciate them having wontons without crab in them. Every time I get their food, the quality and taste are consistent. The service is quick. Even when I get the food delivered, it's prepared so quickly. They give you enough food for 2 people, so you'll definitely have leftovers. For $14, you get your money's worth. Their food is for takeout only. There's no place to sit inside. You can order at the window or call it in ahead of time. Your order will usually be ready within 10 to 15 minutes. They do not accept big bills. There's no restroom available for customers. They do have a small parking lot. You can also park on the street.
